We solve the ground between buying property and building on it.

Water that won’t drain. A driveway that washes out every storm. Land you bought and can’t build on yet. DigRight finds the cause, plans the fix, and does the work.

Where to start

Start with the problem, not the machine.

Excavation is the tool. Solving the problem is the product.

Anyone can rent a machine. What you’re paying for is knowing where the water wants to go, what a driveway needs under it to last, and what has to be true about a piece of ground before a house can sit on it.

We bring that judgment from building custom homes. Our own Bobcat fleet handles everyday work, and we bring in larger rented equipment when a job calls for it.

How we work

Raw land to build-ready

The ground, in the order it has to happen.

Buying the property is the easy part. A house needs access, water, waste, power, drainage, and a pad — figured out before anyone pours a foundation.

01

Read the land

Where a house can sit, how water moves, and what the county will ask for. Often this is a Land Assessment.

02

Make a way in

A driveway and an entrance that construction can use, built so you don’t pay for them twice.

03

Water and waste

A well or public water, and a septic area or a sewer path. These decide where the house is allowed to go.

04

Bring power

Conduit and the other trenches, dug once and backfilled so they don’t sink next spring.

05

Send the water away

Grade, swales, and drains, so storms leave the house and the drive alone.

06

Leave it build-ready

A pad prepared, the site stabilized, and a note on what was done. Then a house can start.

You bought the land. Now what?

The method

Assess. Plan. Execute.

Most ground problems get dug twice: once wrong, once right. We’d rather spend the time understanding the property first.

01

Assess

Walk it, ideally after rain. Where the water comes from, where it’s trying to go, what’s buried, and how a truck gets in.

02

Plan

A written scope. Materials named. Two options when it helps: the fix for today, and the fix that lasts. Price and schedule in writing.

03

Execute

Our crew and our equipment. A Miss Utility ticket on every dig. Photographs, and a short note on how to keep the work working.

A Square One company

Builder standards, applied to the ground.

DigRight is part of Square One Development Group, the custom-home builder at sq1built.com. Square One builds architect-led homes across Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia.

On those houses, the driveway, the drainage, and the pad have to last for decades, because the house depends on them. DigRight holds site work to that standard — including on properties that will never have an architect.

Since 2011, this crew and equipment worked only on Square One’s custom homes. Now DigRight takes on site work for property owners, landowners and other builders.

Land

You bought the land. Now what?

The Land Assessment is a builder’s look at your property: research, a site walk with you, and a written plan. It is a flat fee, quoted up front before we start.
